Privacy Policy

The short version: Dettato is built so your audio and transcripts never leave your Mac. There are no Dettato servers, no accounts, and no analytics. The only network traffic in a default install is downloading the transcription/AI models, checking your Pro license with our payment provider, and — only if you say yes when asked — periodic update checks. If you choose to configure a cloud engine with your own API key, audio goes to that provider — and only then.

What Dettato processes on your Mac

Recordings, transcripts, speaker voiceprints, summaries, and action items are created and stored locally, under ~/Library/Application Support/Dettato. Transcription, speaker identification, and AI summarization run on-device by default. You can delete any recording — or the whole folder — at any time; there is no copy anywhere else.

Network connections Dettato makes by default

Model downloads: on first run (or via dettato setup) the app downloads transcription and AI model files from their publishers' servers (e.g. Hugging Face). These requests fetch files; they carry no audio and no personal data.
License checks (Pro only): activating Dettato Pro sends your license key and your Mac's name to Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, and re-validates the key roughly every three days. No audio, transcripts, or usage data are included. Offline Macs keep working.
Update checks (asked first): the built-in updater asks your permission before scheduling checks against dettato.app for new versions. The request carries the app and macOS version — no personal data — and you can decline or turn it off at any time.

Optional cloud services (off by default)

In Settings you can choose cloud transcription engines (such as Deepgram, ElevenLabs, or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint) or a cloud AI endpoint, using your own API keys. If you enable one, the audio or transcript text you process with it is sent to that provider, governed by their privacy policy. Dettato never proxies this traffic through any server of ours — it goes directly from your Mac to the provider you chose. Leave these off and nothing is ever uploaded.

Purchases

Payments are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. They process your payment details and email address and send us the information needed to issue and validate your license. Dettato never sees your payment card.

What we don't do

No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting in the app.
No accounts, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no data sales.
No access to your recordings or transcripts — we couldn't read them if we wanted to; they are on your Mac.

This website

dettato.app is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, request path) to run the service. The site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts.

Your recordings and other people

Recording calls can require the consent of other participants depending on where you live. That responsibility is yours — see the Terms.
